Abdullah Ibrahim lebt nicht mehr - R.I.P. 

 

Abdullah Ibrahim (arabisch عبد الله إبراهيم, Geburtsname Adolph Johannes Brand; * 9. Oktober 1934 in Kapstadt; † 15. Juni 2026 in Prien am Chiemsee) war ein südafrikanischer Pianist und Komponist. Daneben spielte er auch Flöte, Saxophon und Cello. Abdullah Ibrahim galt als Protagonist des Modern-Creative-Stils in der Jazzmusik. Vor seiner Konversion zum Islam und der Annahme des Namens Abdullah Ibrahim im Jahr 1968 trat er unter dem Künstlernamen Dollar Brand auf. Seine Komposition Mannenberg wurde zu einer inoffiziellen Hymne des Widerstands gegen die Apartheid. Quelle: wikipedia
